UNIITY

BLACK PUNK IS BLACK PANIC

Formed in 2020, UNIITY is the genre warping avant-punk brainchild of Asia "Raven" Clark, a Philadelphia-raised artist currently based in Cleveland, OH. Her mission and legacy is the unification of the emerging scene of independent, LGBTQ+, POC women in punk and alternative music.

Raw, gritty, and experimental- UNIITY pushes the boundaries of what is considered punk music pulling as much influence from genres such as hip-hop, Hardcore punk, and IBM (industrial Body Music). Distorted electronic beats and massive ambient guitars support gut-punching vocals that can range from hissing to singing to unclean screams.

The project began in 2020 as a way to experiment with producing music, but quickly evolved into something much larger when she began teaming up with other native Cleveland producers in 2021. Her first album titled, “HIIVES”is a collection of demos focusing on sacrifice, death, and the struggle that accompanies being a woman of color operating in a predominantly white punk music community. Fusing genres such as Punk, Witch House, and Hip Hop to achieve their notable sound. “HIIVES” was released in March of 2022 following the conclusion of her first tour.

In just under three years, twenty-year-old UNIITY has gone from attending basement shows on the streets of West Philadelphia to building bridges and a strong community for young punks of color in multiple cities such as Philadelphia, Cleveland, and Baltimore. Garnering most of her attention from having shared the stage with the likes of White Ring, Sect Unit, and Blu Anxxiety.
