May 19, 2022

Being one of America’s best-loved metropolises, Miami has it all. There’s no denying that Miami’s dining scene is top-tier, but what about those craving plant-based platters? We’ve compiled a list of five of our fave vegan spots in the Magic City that will keep you coming back for more.

Vegetarian Restaurant by Hakin – Don’t let the name fool you, Vegetarian Restaurant by Hakin is actually a 100% vegan, Caribbean-inspired spot. Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall in North Miami Beach, Vegetarian Restaurant by Hakin prides itself on being one of the top health food eateries in the city.

Serving up simple yet innovative dishes like the Kale Tofu Scramble alongside veganized Caribbean classics such as the Boneless “Short Ribs” and Coconut Curried Sauteed “Salmon” is the name of the game here. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Vegetarian Restaraunt by Hakin never disappoints.

Planta Queen – The Coconut Grove sister restaurant of South Beach’s Planta, Planta Queen is an all-out dining experience featuring vegan Asian cuisine in a lush, modern space. Established in 2016, Planta exists to reimagine vegan food, to “provide flavorful proof that the power of plants can change the world.”

Fresh and multifaceted, Planta Queen’s menu features everything from sushi and small plates to fried rice and noodles. Whether you choose a traditional staple like the Kung Pao Eggplant or Singapore Noodles or go a little more experimental like the Ahi Watermelon Nigiri or the Peking Jackfruit, Planta Queen’s dishes are mouthwatering and memorable.

The Cocinita Miami – Love Latin flavors but also eating plant-based? You’ll absolutely adore The Cocinita Miami. At the Cocinita, a straightforward yet creative menu meets an inviting atmosphere, with beachy accents, market lights, and plants galore.

Some fan favorites at the Cocinita Miami include the (often sold out) Lentil Soup, the Portabello Taco (a crispy tortilla filled with organic corn tortilla, portobello, guacamole, pico de gallo, and garlic sauce), and the Mr. Mitrano Burger (a bun piled high with animal-free “meat”, avocado, portobello, coleslaw, chimichurri sauce, mustard, ketchup, dairy-free cheese and Coci sauce).

Organic Food Kings – This family-owned and operated food truck is a local fave, offering delicious down-home comfort food that just happens to be vegan. With a covered, outdoor patio and live DJ nights, Organic Food Kings is a whole vibe.

Here you’ll find classics like vegan wings and fried “shrimp” as well as Organic Food Kings’ original creations like the Raekwon Davis Philly (the spot’s version of a Philly cheesesteak) and the Mango Tango Jalapeño Burger – a vegan burger topped with mango, jalapeño, pico, and coleslaw. Organic Food Kings also slings smoothies, the Mango Madness being one of the top crowd-pleasers.

Plant Miami – Taking a modern, vibrant approach to vegan food is Plant Miami’s thing. The meticulously curated menu is presented against an airy, chic-but-serene backdrop that will soothe the soul.

Inspired by the South Florida landscape, Plant Miami is known for its artful dishes like its Truffle Noodles, Sunflower Mushroom Risotto, and inspired cauliflower flatbreads. Finish off your meal at Plant with one of their indulgent desserts like the Deconstructed Ginger Lemon Tart or the Caramel Panna Cotta – you won’t regret it.
