What is AFROPUNK?
AFROPUNK is an influential community of young, gifted people of all backgrounds who speak through music, art, film, comedy, fashion and more. Originating with the 2003 documentary that highlighted a Black presence in the American punk scene, it is a platform for the alternative and experimental. Remaining at the core of its mission are the punk principles of DIY aesthetics, radical thought and social nonconformity. AFROPUNK is a voice for the unwritten, unwelcome and unheard-of, redefining the urban experience.

Are there rules to attend AFROPUNK?
AFROPUNK abides by the tenets: NO SEXISM, NO RACISM, NO ABLEISM, NO AGEISM, NO HOMOPHOBIA, NO FATPHOBIA, NO TRANSPHOBIA, NO HATEFULNESS. We strive to create a safe space for all behind, on, and in front of the stage. Read more here.

What are Solution Sessions?
A unique space within the weekend’s programming that provides opportunities offered like that of a social salon: to inspire, engage, inform, and rally around the importance of civic participation and diverse thinking. Curated talks encourage attendees to envision themselves making a difference and supporting social innovations, addressing myriad topics, issues, and concepts that are solution-based. Solution Sessions will be held in the Gold Lounge 12PM – 4PM Saturday and Sunday.

What is the SpinThrift Market?
A thoughtfully curated DIY marketplace showcasing the best and brightest talents from the maker community and sparking connections between community and craftspeople.

Where can I buy tickets?
Only tickets purchased through the official AFROPUNK Eventbrite page are guaranteed to be valid. You can find this at https://afropunk.com/festival/atlanta/tickets/

Where is the entrance this year?
The entrance for the festival is located on Windsor St. SW, just south of Bass St. SW

Is the festival rain or shine?
Yes, the festival is a rain or shine event.

What time do doors open?
10:30AM

What time does the festival end?
All entertainment will end at 1:00 AM.

Is there re-entry into the festival?
There is no re-entry into the festival.

Do I get a wristband upon entering the venue?
General Admission Weekend and Single-Day ticket holders will receive a wristband upon entering the festival.

Are Tickets Still Available?
Yes, tickets can be purchased here. We suggest you buy in advance, as tickets may sell out.

Can I upgrade to VIP?
All ticket holders will be granted the same level of admission for the festival. Everyone is VIP in Atlanta.

Where are the ATMs located?
Please reference the Patron Map, in the AFROPUNK app for exact locations for ATMs.

Where are the restrooms?
All (including accessible) restrooms are located on S. Windsor, at the end of the street between the two sides of the venue.

Where is the best place to grab a bite?
Bites&Beats can be found all over the festival. Start the day with grab and go brunch and mimosas while you tune into Solutions Sessions in the Gold Lounge. Enjoy lunch and dinner from delicious food trucks. And we have a delicious array of all things while you watch the show at Green Stage: Ugandan Street Food, Chicken & Waffles, Pizza, and more.

Will there be vegetarian/vegan items?
We love vegan and vegetarian food and there will definitely be options for both.

Are there water stations?
Festival water can be purchased at bars located at each stage. Free water stations can be found outside the SpinThrift Market, across the street from Green Stage.

Where is the Merch Booth?
AFROPUNK merch and artist merchandise will be sold at the Merch Booth, next to the Info Booth across the street from the Green Stage.

Who do I contact about volunteering?

Can you tell me more about the Earn-A-Ticket Program?
We’re excited to make the Earn-A-Ticket program available for the fifth year in a row and offer a limited quantity of tickets to people interested in becoming active online and in their local communities. By helping organizations and causes in need, AP ARMY activists have the opportunity to learn firsthand the valuable skills of dedicated individuals working on the ground to change the status quo and to generate impact online via important actions.

What is Activism Row?

An interactive, educational, site-specific installation featuring grassroots and non-profit organizations that solve urgent community problems. These groups create opportunity for young people to be informed about civic participation and encourage you to make a difference in your community by supporting social innovations. It will be located in the SpinThrift Market building in the Green Stage area.

Where is the Medical Tent?
Medical Tent is located just off Windsor Street, next to the charging station, across from Green Stage.

Can I charge my phone at the festival?
Portable chargers will be available for purchase through Electric Standard Co. Attendees can charge on the go, no matter what type of device they have. Can I take public transportation?
Yes, a number of buses stop near the venue. The closest train stations are West End and Garnett. Plan your trip on Marta.

How do I get to the parking lot?
From I-75/85 North
• Exit at University Ave/Pryor Street
• Turn right onto University Avenue and immediately get in the far left lane
• Turn left onto Pryor Street (very first light)
• Continue straight (You will come to a fork. Stay toward the right in the center lane). You will now be on Central Avenue.
• Continue straight and turn left into the Logan Lot
• NOTE: The lot is located immediately behind the BP gas station.
• Parking passes can be purchased here for each day.

ADA INFORMATION

Is the Festival accessible to people with disabilities?
Yes, this festival is ADA accessible. The ADA viewing area is located in front of the stage. It is to the right of the Merchandise booth , and in front of the Budweiser activation. There are no stairs for patrons to use to navigate the venue. Accessible restrooms are in the same area as all patron restrooms.

Where do I get my accessible pass?
Accessible Passes for ADA guests may be requested at the Box Office or at the Guest Services Booth inside the venue. This pass can be carried with you around the park for access to ADA viewing areas and other accessible needs. You can contact our Guest Services Manager, Yemi Osibogun at guestservices@afropunk.com.

Am I allowed to have service animals?
Service animals are allowed, however, dogs must be on a leash at all times and shots up to date. Please remember that DB levels are high near the stages and to be aware.

Where are accessible restrooms?
The accessible porta-lets are located in the same area as the rest of the restrooms – at the end of the street between the Green Stage/SpinThrift Market and Red Stage/Gold Lounge areas.

What you can bring in:
• One recyclable (non-glass) container for water (not two, or three or four or any quantity over one)
• Small bags & *Framed backpacks used for carrying children are fine but backpacks are discouraged – Large backpacks will not be allowed in.
• Small purses and clear bags

What you may NOT bring in*:
• Weapons (guns, knives, or any weapons of any kind)
• Fireworks or explosives
• Illegal substances
• Glass containers or cans
• Framed or Large backpacks, book bags or non-transparent bags over hand size (any bag that is not clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and over 12″ x 6″ x 12″ in size will not be allowed)
• Food or drinks of any kind — other than reusable water bottles
• Coolers or picnic baskets
• Lensed cameras, long-lens cameras or professional photography equipment
• Any type of travel-friendly chairs or other lawn furniture
• Bicycles, scooters* or other personal motorized vehicles (including, but not limited to: motor scooters, powered skateboards, and hoverboards) *Motorized wheelchairs and personal mobility scooters are welcome, of course.
• Radios, boomboxes, instruments or devices with amplified sound.
• Large multi-person umbrellas (personal umbrellas for rain protection are fine.)
• Laser pointers
• Tents
• Pets of any kind (except for working service dogs)
• Items for vending. Unauthorized vendors will not be allowed. All authorized vendors have been carefully chosen for safety and quality.

*None of these items will be permitted on the premises, and you will be prohibited from entering if anything listed is in your possession.

Will I be searched upon entry?
Yup, festival security will search all persons and bags prior to entry. Please review the prohibited items list if you aren’t sure whether or not you can bring something.

What is your re-entry policy?
All exits are final.

Can I bring outside food & drinks?
No, only a recyclable container for water. We have amazing food in our Bites&Beats food area.

Is AFROPUNK an all-ages event?
Of course, no ageism.

What kind of ID do I need to buy drinks and pick up tickets?
Only valid (non-expired) government issued ID will be accepted.

When will the performance schedules be released?
