moses sumney flashes forward on “me in twenty years”

January 8, 2020

One of the most anticipated projects of 2020 is Moses Sumney’s upcoming double album, græ. After releasing the songs “Virile” and “Polly” late last year, the genre-bending Sumney gives us another peek into his soul with “Me In Twenty Years.” On the track, Sumney uses his emotive falsetto to sing of longing for a lost love. He wonders about the future and makes clear his fear of dying lonely.

“Hey me in twenty years/ Does your milk still/ Turn to rot too soon?/ Do you still hoard souvenirs/ And make them mirrors/ Of sentimental veneer?” It’s grim and sad yet beautiful at the same time and more reason to look forward to the new album.

græ, will be released in two parts on Jagjaguwar; the first is out digitally in February, and the second half — along with the physical release of the album — comes on May 15th. pre-order it here.
