Eddie Murphy’s return to major film comedy has just dropped its first trailer and it goofy as hell. But in a good way! In Dolemite Is My Name, we find Murphy as Rudy Ray Moore, comedian, actor, and blaxploitation figure known for his outrageous stage performances. A struggling singer who finds success in comedy via “party records” when a chance meeting with actor D’Urville Martin (played by Wesley Snipes) helps give him the clout he needs to make it on the big screen as the low-budget, profanity-laden Dolemite. Keegan-Micheal Key co-stars as writer Jerry Jones who Moore said back in 2002 was “responsible for my career going where it did.”
