Wakanda may not be real but the fashion and style trends that influenced the breathtaking aesthetic of the film definitely are. African designers always seem to be missing at fashion weeks held in the “West” but that has not stopped African style from growing and evolving.

West Africa is arguably the most recognized region when it comes to the African style revolution. Ghana-based fashion house, Debonair Afrik sits at the forefront of this movement with the launch of the ‘Style Lounge’ platform. Style Lounge in an opportunity for (West) African brands to promote themselves in a three-day event that includes workshops and fashion presentations. Day 3 of this year’s showcase consisted of emerging brands such as Ekua Addo, Kai Shika and Sena Bryte as well as well-known brands such as Nuna Couture and Diva Delicious amongst others.
