Made up of singer/songwriter Camille and producer Teddy, DC-based duo NUEX is making waves with their spellbinding experimental/alternative sound. Their debut single, “Lights Off” entranced as the group’s upbeat introduction to the world, and now they are ready to show their dark side.

With Camille proclaiming “I make bones of girls / who make weapons of words,” NUEX’s latest offering, “I Make Bones,” is a dark and retro-inspired revenge fantasy.

“I wrote the first half of the first verse of the song (thin walls, sweet talk, gossip’s got feet, it walks) way back in fall 2012 after I got assigned random roommates in college that I would always hear talk about me through the thin walls of the dorm,” Camille explained. “So that pretty much started off the sentiment of the song. I ended up finishing it in 2014 with NUEX– and now we’re putting it out in 2017. So it has had a long journey.”

The production also gets its inspiration from perhaps one of the greatest vigilante stories of our time. “The music came to me after I watched V for Vendetta and 28 weeks later back to back on a Saturday morning,” Teddy said. “So I was feeling a certain kind of way. Maybe the feelings of being victorious during dark times (not to sound too emo) mixed with a feeling of being a bad ass vigilante. The feel of the song came together perfectly when Camille put lyrics to it, it turns into a full package.”

Directed by Othello, the video is described as “a non-narrative visual representation of the band.”
