brooklyn rapper leikeli47 drops breathtaking debut album and new video “m i l k”
Ski-masked Brooklyn rapper Leikeli47 has been changing the hip-hop game for years, but with recent features on HBO’s hit show Insecure and headlining AFROPUNK Brooklyn, she’s only just now breaking into the mainstream, but that might be just the way she likes it.
The high-energy artist—who rarely does interviews, only recently created an Instagram account (she still doesn’t have a Twitter), and never removes her mask—allows her music to speak for itself, and as her new album Wash & Set demonstrates, it speaks volumes.
Produced under the Hardcover/RCA Records label, the album showcases Leikeli47’s distinctively hard-hitting yet playful lyricism, grenre-bending musicianship, and enigmatic character. To coincide with the release of the album, the rapper also dropped the video for “M I L K” in partnership with Milk Makeup. She previously performed alongside Santigold and Salt-N-Pepa at their launch party, and appeared in their Live Your Look campaign.
