Recently graduating from Virginia Tech at 22-year-old, Richmond’s Ginai Seaborn is now the first black female nanonscientist in the state of Virginia. While earning her degree, Seaborn remarked that at the university she was often the only nonwhite student in her classes. Even still, the historic nature of her achievements in the field wasn’t clear to her until recently. “We talked to the department head and he looked it up and confirmed it,” Seabron told local news station NBC12. Incredible. Congratulations, Ginai!
