New York rapper Azealia Banks posted a disturbing admission on Instagram where she, in a graphic story, details being raped. “I’m just really realizing this rape, men can just prey on you and just fucking badger you and force you to say yes, to the point where you feel like you gave consent, but you didn’t give shit.”

Banks has previously made allegations of physical and radicalized abuse, and at best, many people seem to satirize her painful experiences or express their outright disbelief in them occurring. Far from perfect with a lot of room to grow, true, Banks’ stories need to be heard and believed, regardless of what you think of her personally.
