Ezakithi Namasiko, which means “our values and the things that belong to us” in Zulu, is a meditative documentary produced by Thingo Mthombeni and Catharina Andersen. It explores Mthombeni’s negotiation between her identity as a Christian in post-apartheid South Africa, and her traditional African roots. Growing up Christian, Mthombeni was taught to demonize traditional cultures and ancestral practices. As she has grown older, she realized the importance of reconciling the two in order to fully realize her place in society.
