black thought of the roots working with tv on the radio + more on new solo album

February 28, 2013

Well it’s about time we got a Black Thought solo album. The Roots emcee, Tariq Trotter, has won Grammy’s with the legendary Roots crew and has always been under-rated as one of the coldest emcee, probably ever (shots fired.) and now it’s time to prove it. Trotter is finally giving us a solo album featuring the likes of TV on The Radio and My Morning Jacket. SWEET

“I just started writing a couple of weeks ago for a blues album, kinda, that I’m going to be singing on,” Trotter said. “I don’t know what it’s gonna be called, but it might be called ‘The Talented Mr. Trotter.’” Black Thought ALSO revealed he has recruited R&B singer Raheem DeVaughn for some duet action on the album and has been getting creative with Tunde Adebimpe from TV on the Radio and Jim James of My Morning Jacket. Unlikely? Maybe. Awesome? Definitely. Project is slated for release the year as well as a new Roots project as an aside. Stay busy, Black Thought!
