Chlothegod – My Bad, My Fault: New age femme recording artist/ writer from Fayetteville, North Carolina, Chlothegod blesses us with visuals from her third single, “My Bad, My Fault” from her upcoming EP, Nearly Straight. Chlo has been bubbling under the scene and it’s exciting to have a front seat to her rise to stardom. I like this video because it’s colourful, whimsical and gives you a glimpse into Chlo’s artistic world. Be on the lookout for the EP which drops in October.
Kabeaushé – These Dishes Ain’t Gonna Do Themselves: Kabeaushé is crafting a sound of their own, infused with pop sensibilities. Kabeaushé likes to explore themes of softness and cuteness, making music that is both gentle and highly invigorating with a show aimed to draw the audience into a hypnotic dance frenzy. Their sets are far more than just performance, they’re a celebration, a communion, a party in which the audience gets what they give, and the Shé emerges. ‘THESE DISHES AIN’T GONNA DO THEMSELVES’ is another frenetic sonic journey into the mind of this one-of-a-kind artist. Made as a joyful celebration, everything from how bright the song is, to the instrumentation, and those beautifully stacked falsetto vocals, it pays homage to some of Kabeaushé’s beloved 80s chorus melodies.
Dominique Fils-Aimé – Our Roots Run Deep: “Our Roots Run Deep” is the new single and title track taken from Dominique Fils-Aimé’s upcoming album “Our Roots Run Deep” which released today (September 22nd, 2023). Following a trio of albums that were a loosely chronological conceptualization of African American music, Dominique is now turning inwards, reflecting on her own emotional and spiritual landscape while sonically she continues to meld jazz, R&B, and soul traditions into something distinctly her own and modern. You can stream “Our Roots Run Deep” HERE.
Samaria – Tight Rope: This week, rising R&B singer-songwriter Samaria is back with her new single “Tight Rope.” Directed by Nasser Boulaich (Lil Durk, Kenny Mason, Dominic Fike), the video showcases some of Samaria’s emotions and the journey that she goes through as she struggles with losing herself and finding her worth in herself instead of others. Samaria’s music doubles as a safe space and a healing tool, soundtracked by a blend of R&B, soul with subtle nods to her love for ‘00s pop. Her raw authenticity can be partly attributed to her upbringing in California’s historically artistic Bay Area – specifically Oakland and Berkeley. Watch video below.
Jesse Boykins III – Go With The Feeling: Visionary alternative soul artist, songwriter, and producer Jesse Boykins III is set to captivate the music world once again with his new single “Go With The Feeling,” the latest offering from his anticipated upcoming album ‘New Growth.’ As the release date for ‘New Growth’ approaches, fans and music enthusiasts can look forward to a fresh and captivating musical experience that promises to leave a lasting impression. Stay tuned for more updates on Jesse Boykins III journey of artistic growth and the release of his awaited new album on October 20th.
