Janelle Monáe was right, it really is the age of pleasure and at AP, we want to get you right. AFROPUNK Brooklyn is back baby and as we enter the thick of Summer, we’ve put together some event suggestions and favorites from the AP team to make sure you’re living your best life this summer.
Join us at Essence Fest as we take over the Essence Fest official after parties this month in New Orleans. Come party with AP, and experience what’s to come at AP Brooklyn this year.
Black Market Flea
It’s in the name. Black Market Flea recently celebrated their 2 year anniversary as a Black – owned monthly flea market and day party. Founded by Maya Hatcher, BMF prioritizes community, creative workers and ultimately aims to make thrifting accessible again.
Stand up! Over the next two months, we’ve picked some of our favorite to-dos for you to start and end your summer with including AFROPUNK Brooklyn.
Everyday People: July 3rd and 4th
There’s been a real thirst for day parties and live music events especially post-pandemic. People want to have fun and be in community and meet new people and be outside. Everyday People want that too. Across the summer, Everyday People will be hosting day events that’ll have you in bed by a respectable time to later parties and that extra outside feeling. It’s a win win for everyone! Tickets can be bought here or via Dice. EP events are not limited to NYC, and will be having events throughout the year and internationally.
Tribes of Da Moon Festival: August 19th – 21st
A 2 – day August weekender, Tribes of Da Moon celebrates and brings together Black artists in the hardcore music scene. We’re calling all rockers, all punks, all metalheads and everything in between, head down to Bowery Ballroom. Tickets available here.
AFROPUNK Brooklyn: August 26th and 27th
We’re back baby! AP Brooklyn will be returning this summer. Join us at Greenpoint Terminal Market for a celebration of music, community, identity and culture. End your summer on a high and let loose with us in August but as always, please remember our house rules.
