Teezo Touchdown Gets Personal On “Familiarity”

April 7, 2023

“I believe in aliens
I don’t believe in luck”

Gifted with an ability to transform the energy of 90’s pop-punk and alt-rock into something wholly modern and his own, Teezo Touchdown has been something of an anomaly since bursting onto the scene in 2018. His latest, “Familiarity,” finds him looking back on his origin story when he was just a kid living at home trying to pull enough together to pursue his dreams. The single pulls in one of his strongest hooks with his inimitable style before ending with a surprisingly heartfelt scene. Without the wall-to-wall guitars of his production or the sarcasm of his lyrics, the final scene lays bare the heart beneath it all. It’s a perfect encapsulation of what makes Teezo unique as he looks back on the past to start building what’s next.

Teezo explains: “Everyone’s journey starts somewhere. My journey started with me cleaning a filthy bathroom with a smile on my face because I knew that my music would take me to places that I could never imagine.”
