Premiere: LaToya Kent and RA Washington Are Back With Electroclash Anthem “Burns”

March 22, 2023

LaToya Kent and RA Washington are that kind of prolific artist where you never know where they’re headed next, but you know it’s going to be rad as hell. The two have chased their respective muses all over the musical landscape both as the maestros behind Mourning [A] BLKstar and in their uncountable other projects. Their latest collab Me: You gets at the heart of the duality that runs through so much of their music. The extremes of melody and noise. LaToya’s voice floats above the waves of distorted 808s and tape noises creating an atmosphere that’s tense and driving while still feeling human and achingly real. The band’s full length drops April 21st, and you can catch them on tour with Mourning [A] BLKstar this spring.

The band calls the song “A whisper in the air to coax into a dream with eyes open. ‘I got a little magic in my pocket’ to ingest and enter a portal that takes the lovers into invincibility and tandem solidarity. Posing an instruction and guide to another world.”
