Why Jordan Peele’s New Gothic Stop Motion Movie “Wendell & Wild” Is Important for Black Culture.

September 26, 2022

Jordan Peele and Henry Selick craft a gothic comedy stop-motion film with a Black lead, Wendell & Wild. We usually never see Black characters in stop-motion animation, which makes Wendell & Wild so important and iconic. Wendell & Wild is about an orphan named Kat with supernatural abilities who partners with demon brothers to defeat their shared arch nemesis. Though the film is catered to a young audience it covers topics such as the prison industrial complex. Teen Horror fans will be able to experience a stop-motion film with characters that look like them. This incredible story is supported by an amazing voice cast with legends such as Angela Bassett, James Hong, and Jordan Peele himself.
