The Haunting Post-Punk Power of EKKSTACY’s “i want to die in your arms”

With a gift for melodies destined to haunt your ear, and an unsettling drive that draws on 80’s post-punk and indie, EKKSTACY is quickly becoming a favorite around these parts. His lyrics are blunt and direct, expressing a longing and loathing for the pain of modern life, but delivered with a faltering earnestness that cuts to the humanity within. Brief moments of dissonance punctuate the ethereal beauty of his latest “i want to die in your arms,” creating a vibe that’s at once captivating and unsettling. The driving percussion and bass cut against the sweeping guitars and synths like jagged rocks jutting out from a serene sea. His performance in Brooklyn at AFROPUNK 2022 and his forthcoming Misery (out September 30th) both serve as the perfect panacea for fall ennui.
