Big Joanie Drops New Queer Anthem “In My Arms” From Forthcoming Full Length
Big Joanie are the kind of band that cannot be pinned down. From their heavy early demos to their stunning breakout cover of “Cranes in the Sky,” the trio injects their sound and lyrics with a radical refusal to be limited by anyone’s expectations. Following the dark and driving lead single from their forthcoming record “Happier Still,” Big Joanie’s latest “In My Arms” changes gears to a celebration of queer love and community. The post-punk inflected track is an ode to the moments that make life worth living, with an accompanying video that exudes absolute joyfulness.
The new cut hails from Back Home which is due out November 4th. The band says of the new album, “We were really ruminating on the idea of a home and what it means. It’s about the different ideas of home, whether that’s here in the UK, back in Africa or the Caribbean, or a place that doesn’t really exist; it’s neither here nor there.”
