gina jeanz caps of the year with lucid theory, her journey towards healing and self discovery

December 3, 2021

Namibian-born, Cape Town-based multi-faceted artist, Gina Jeanz has dropped her debut LP, Lucid Theory. My introduction to Gina goes back to our early days in varsity when she was experimenting with trap, and over the years she’s opened her horizons to a wide variety of sounds, crafting her skills that have culminated in what is Lucid Theory. Following a number of EPs, guest production spots, Lucid Theory arrives after a period of dealing with the loss of her mother in 2017, so this body of work has been a journey towards healing and self-discovery. The LP is different from her previous work, and it commands you to listen and enjoy the vibes.

On Lucid Theory, Gina has an impeccable lineup of features such as Sio, Moonga K. who featured on the singles “Sun Spot” and “Dopamine” respectively. Other features include Brad Knight, Jordan Baker, and AliThatDude on the track “We Move” where he reminds me of Goldlink. I am confident that Lucid Theory will get regular spins on my playlists and I can’t wait to see Gina Jeanz trajectory to stardom.

You can listen to Lucid Theory right here.
