Paris Texas are a new duo out of Compton for whom things like “genres” and “conventions” are mere roadblocks on their path to rawness. The band’s sound defies expectations, pilling beyond-distorted guitars over sparse beats and a brash confident flow that builds into a nuclear meltdown. Like their namesake town, it rejects easy categorization; a nest of contradictions. Their new single “HEAVY METAL” is a constant process of escalating “oh shit, this is rad” moments.
