yves tumor gives us the “gospel for a new century” in hellish new video

Yves Tumor is a master shape-shifter. Whether we’re talking about his uncategorizable sound or ever-changing visual presentation, the Tennessee-born artist’s superpower is his unpredictability. “Gospel For A New Century,” the latest single from his just-announced new album, Heaven To A Tortured Mind, is a bassline-driven banger on par with his signature songs “Licking An Orchid” and “Noid”. Featuring a thumping nod-inducing drum beat, regal horns, a guitar-shredding chorus, and the aforementioned enveloping bassline throughout “Gospel … ” is part love song and part warning. That juxtaposition is made visual in the over-the-top video directed by Isamaya Ffrench in which Tumor dons horns, monster make-up, and furry pants to do his best Baphomet impression as writhing contortionists and dancers dressed as calves revel with him.
