saul williams to co-produce sci-fi musical ‘neptune frost’

Saul Williams is an unstoppable creative force. Over the years we’ve seen this prototypical Afropunk go from spoken word poetry to books, to films to music to Broadway and the next frontier in his quest to subvert the status quo and humanize through art is film production and graphic novels. To make a deeper, radical footprint in culture Williams has come together with actor Ezra Miller (“The Flash” from DC’s Justice League film) to form the MartyrLoserKin production company.

The name of the company references Williams expansive MartyrLoserKing project that tells the story of a miner-turned hacker-turned freedom fighter from Burundi and his love affair with a female-identifying, woman who was born intersex — her character lends her name to and is the focus of the company’s first production, Neptune Frost.

The film project will be a sci-fi musical directed by Williams and executive produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Stephen Hendel (Fela!).
