news from 2020 ‘candyman’ set

January 17, 2020

As y’all know, we’ve been keeping close tabs on Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated reboot of the classic 1992 horror flick, Candyman. Sometime last year we learned that the one-and-only Tony Todd (Candyman) would be returning in some capacity. In what role, we don’t know yet. And he’s not the only one.

According to an exclusive report by BloodyDisgusting.com, the character of Helen Lyle will also make an appearance in the Nia DaCosta remake. With events taking place after the storyline from the original, will this Helen Lyle be a whole-new character or will Virginia Madsen reprise her role in the “spiritual sequel”?

Bernard Rose’s 1992 Candyman follows the story of skeptical graduate student Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) as she researches the urban legend surrounding a housing project on Chicago’s North Side known as Cabrini-Green. There, residents are terrorized by the memory and haunting of “Candyman,” ‘the ghost of an artist and a son of a slave’ who was murdered in the late 19th century.

Set to be released June 12, 2020, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Us, Aquaman) leads the cast, presumably as the new Candyman.
