liv.e’s “sirladymakemfall” video enchants

January 21, 2020

As far as introductions go they don’t get much better than Liv.e‘s new video for “SirLadyMakemFall.”

Over the past couple of years, the Dallas-bred, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, producer and occasional rapper has popped up on Pink Siifu’s ensley album, toured with Earl Sweatshirt, and co-starred in Maxo’s tender video for “Strongside.” Back in 2017-18, we got a taste of what the 22-year-old artist could do over contorted and distorted jazz, funk, and soul samples on her projects FRANK and  Hoopdreams, but unless you saw her live on stage, you wouldn’t know what the full package was like.

That problem is solved with the simple yet compelling video for “SirLadyMakemFall,” the first single from her upcoming album Couldn’t Wait To Tell You. Directed by Barrington Darius, the visuals give us a fuller picture of this charismatic rising star and introduce us to various parts of her persona: playful seductress, real down to Mars girl, gold tooth-sporting country, bohemian bad bitch, blunt-smoking ingenue with the devil-may-care attitude who removes her wig and kicks back after an extended dress-up-and-dance-in-the-mirror session. “Texas girl,” she sings with the utmost attitude and confidence “I’ll pull out my saddle and rock your world.” Seeing is believing.
