black businesses have been busy this year, let’s shop

This past year has been filled with growth of all kinds. Not only are we creating opportunities for ourselves, but we’ve been more adamant than ever in supporting each other’s quality endeavors. As a community that is often left out, we have made sure to insert ourselves into spaces previously uninhabited by us despite the gatekeepers trying to discourage us. We’ve proven that there are indeed audiences for our ideas.

Our desire and ability to support our businesses have made it clear that we are all we need. Last year, Black Panther became evidence to the world that Black people will spend money on movies that represent us. More than art, social media’s demand to see more for us, by us has inspired business minds all across the diaspora. As we continue to vocalize our wants and as our community continues to support one another, we begin to see Black businesses emerge all around us.

More importantly, these Black businesses are dominating their respective fields! From big name run companies like Pat McGrath Labs, Fenty, or Golfwang to up and coming brands like The Honey Pot, Mented or The Lip Bar, it is a beautiful time for Black innovators. As the year rounds up and the holidays quickly approach, many of you may be searching for gifts. It’s a great time to support some of these Black businesses as you think of your loved ones.

Check out this very Black holiday shopping list and provide some suggestions of your own in the comments!
