Despite the extremist anti-abortion bills that are being passed across the America’s Bible Belt, some local prosecutors and judges are refusing to criminalize women and medical professionals for providing abortions to those in need. Especially in and around Atlanta. The latest is Macon County (Georgia) District Attorney, David Cooke, who is saying: “I will exercise my discretion not to prosecute women and doctors for exercising their constitutional rights.” Hell yeah, fuckin’ right. “It’s unfortunate that this law may turn a miscarriage into a crime scene and I will not allow that to happen on my watch.”

Cooke joins district attorney from across the city of Atlanta who won’t prosecute women for seeking and receiving abortions either. The Fulton County DA’s office also says that it has no plans whatsoever to prosecute women under Georgia’s new anti-abortion law, siding with Roe v. Wade and the many people abortion benefits. “DA [Paul] Howard has no intention of ever prosecuting a woman under this new law,” said Chris Hopper, the office’s director of public affairs.

Likewise in Gwinnett Country: “…this office will not be prosecuting any women under the new law as long as I’m District Attorney,” said Gwinnett County DA Danny Porter.
