We all know the real star of last year’s Black Panther was Shuri and, apparently, Marvel got the memo. Over the weekend at WonderCon, Marvel announced the planned development of three additional ‘Marvel Rising’ animated specials, coming later this year to Marvel’s YouTube channel: Marvel Rising: Battle of the Bands, Marvel Rising: Operation Shuri, and Marvel Rising: Playing With Fire.
Operation Shuri will feature Daisy Lightfoot, who voices other characters in the Avengers Assemble series. The 22-minute animated special follows characters in the world of Wakanda, as “the lives of the Secret Warriors are turned upside down when faced with their latest mission: hang out with Shuri, the Crown Princess of Wakanda, and show her what it’s like to be an ordinary teenager. But nothing’s ordinary when you’re dealing with one of the smartest and most famous people on the planet.” Hell yes.
The three special series’ come right before the release of Marvel Rising: Heart of Iron where we follow Riri William aka Ironheart (voiced by Sofia Wylie) as she adjusts to college life as the youngest super-genius on campus when her best friend is abducted. With the help of her hero Iron Man, can Riri defeat Hala the Accuser and save the day? Yeah, she totally can.
