Philly rapper/singer Tierra Whack made her late night show debut Monday night and as we’ve grown to expect from her, the performance was fabulous. At the same time, Whack dropped her third single in three weeks for what she’s called Whack History Month, “Gloria” is a bouncy addition follow-up to “Only Child” and “Clones”. Not without her signature playful nature, Whack doles out a confident but understated string of bars about life as a starving artist and owning her moment.

“Gloria is a song I made a while ago,” Tierra told Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show on Apple Music. “Nick Varudo produced the beat. I just remember hearing this certain sound that he was playing. I’m like, ‘Yo, you just got to keep that going, keep that going.’ We added the base, and it’s kind of like more trap, but fun free. Sometimes I hear beats and I’m like, ‘It’s too mainstream. It’s too, I can’t connect.’ This beat, it felt so good. It was there, but it was also still here. It felt real.”
