music & video premiere: liam bailey’s “hold tight”

February 8, 2019

Liam Bailey’s music can easily be defined by his Instagram bio, “Love Yourself, You’re Vital”. Born in Nottingham, England, Bailey is known for a vocal style that infuses soul, reggae, and blues. He is of course his own artist but I’m sure it doesn’t hurt to be compared to the likes of Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Bill Withers, Bob Marley, and Dennis Brown. Sheesh.

Recently, Bailey announced his fourth studio EP, Brand New, featuring six brand-new tracks, and the first to drop is “Hold Tight,” a modern anthem full of positive reminders our community will appreciate, all under a reggae style beat. The song was produced by Fred Cox (James Morrison, Col3trane, Lion Babe).

Check out the “Hold Tight” video, directed by Marcus Lang, who’s previously worked with Rita Ora, Stormzy, Kara Marni and plenty of others. It shows a glimpse of Bailey’s life on the road, during last summer’s UK tour with Paloma Faith. The video matches the song’s positive, community-oriented vibe, hand-in-hand with the mantra: “everything’s gonna be fine, hold tight”.
