British folk singer Jake Isaac’s EP, We Used to Dream, is a succinct collection of four soul-flavored folk tunes. Opening with the infectious ‘Bad Vibes’ and finishing with the vulnerable ‘Carry You’, Isaac shows off a great depth of musicality and range as a songwriter and musician.
It’s Brixton artist’s first release since taking a brief hiatus to spend time with family, and it’s clear that his soul-searching made a deep impact on Isaac’s music.
“This record for me is all about what it says on the tin,” Isaac told Official Charts. “Kinda felt like it’s real easy to lose sight of what this whole life and music thing is all about, and I just wanted to write songs that help me and whoever is listening, dream again. Grandad always used encouraged me to look beyond where I am in life, so that’s what I’m try’na do!”
