chance pledges over $1 mil to chicago mental health

The South Side-reared rapper just pledged to donate over $1 million to Chicago mental health initiatives through his charity SocialWorks. Chance – real name Chancellor Bennet – announced that SocialWorks will be giving six Cook County mental health providers $100 000 grants as a part of the rapper’s new “My State Of Mind” initiative according to Chicago Sun-Times.

“We want to change the way that mental health resources are being accessed,” Chance said at his SocialWorks Summit. “We need a new space where people can get information on how they feel, on where to go and a network for us to interact and review our mental health spaces, and create a community of people helping people.”

The Patron Saint of Chicago also announced that 20 public schools will each receive $100 000 towards mental health services within schools. “We will be upping the game in terms of equity, in terms of what is rightfully yours. Principals, teachers, we got your back.” The rapper already donated $1 million to Chicago inner-city schools in 2017, in an attempt to address the gross neglect those schools have endured from the politicians.

Applications for the grants begin in January.
