streetwear and punk collide in fashion label hightower’s innovative collections

When athleisure sauntered onto the streetwear radar, the kids embraced the trend wholeheartedly, excited at the prospect of bringing high fashion into the streets and visa versa. Connecticut born fashion designer DaShaun Hightower has come to shake up the streets again with ‘Hightower’, his contemporary fashion brand that delivers functional, innovative and powerful collections of streetwear. Hightower describes his garments as “elevated streetwear with punk undertones,” created for the customer that wants to push the creative limits of their individual style.

Hightower launched his brand in 2015 and since then, has been featured in local and international magazines. The brand has already graced the pages of Italian Vogue, i-D and LadyGunn while also taking home accolades such as Out Magazine’s Fashion Vanguard award in March of 2017. Hightower garments have also made it onto the bodies notable musicians like recording artist MØ, punk band Fuck U Pay US and Jamila Woods who had a distressed denim jacket custom-made for her ‘LSD’ video featuring Chance the Rapper.

Hightower fuses personal experiences, music and fine-art into his collections with the objective of “pushing the needle of fashion.” His aim is to stay relevant and create clothes that speak to the mentality of experiences of this generation, in hopes of providing it with garments that can allow it face it its challenges through the expressive medium of fashion.
