A 27-piece orchestra is exactly the type of grandeur that Prince would appreciate and thanks to the music Gods (of which Prince is one) Questlove is curating a set list of arrangements in 4U: A Symphonic Celebration of Prince. The acclaimed drummer has enlisted the talents of Grammy Award winner Brent Fischer and musician Miguel Atwood-Ferguson to help arrange selected titles into orchestral pieces.

“4U makes history as “the first and only official Estate approved symphonic presentation of Prince’s music. In that respect, it feels completely apropos for the production to welcome Fischer’s orchestral arranging talents and production experience.” says Questlove. Fischer and his late father Dr. Clare Fischer had a 3-decade-long musical relationship with Prince. “Among countless classic recordings, their distinct sonic fingerprint can be felt on Sign O’ The Times, Graffiti Bridge, and Parade as well as on the big-screen in Under The Cherry Moon and Batman.”

The 2004 Grammy ceremony that housed a ‘Prince Medley’ performed by Prince himself and a newly solo Beyoncé included the younger Fischer, who joined Prince and Beyoncé on stage as an orchestra percussionist, rounding out a performance that Grammy show producer Ken Elrich cited as “one of the “GRAMMY® Seminal Moments.” If you remember how the live orchestra elevated that epic performance then you’ll know that Quest Love has something transcendent in store for Prince fans.

Fischer spoke about his involvement in this historic project, saying “Questlove is one of the most innovative artists of today. Between his encyclopedic knowledge of and my history with Prince, we see eye-to-eye on so many creative levels and have a deep respect for preserving Prince’s amazing output.” Fischer has worked with the likes of Usher, Michael Jackson, D’Angelo, Elvis Costello & The Roots while Atwood-Ferguson has credits like Ray Charles and Dr. Dre under his belt, resulting in a trio of gifted musicians lending their talents to making this orchestral rendition of Prince’s discography a listening experience for the ages.
