this dope illustrator revisits black culture classics and it’s badass
Manesseh Johnson Sr has had a pencil in his hand since the tender age of 3. Jersey born and Texas based, he works in all mediums, but in the last few years, he has found his groove with colored pencil renditions of your faves from Black culture.
“My goal as an artist is to create pieces that embrace the black culture and inspire up and coming artists” – Manasseh Johnson Sr.
His drawings range from Missy to Malcolm, Prince to Black Panther, giving Blackness that Hollywood street artist treatment but with a lot of heart and bag-loads of nostalgia. Manasseh has been published in ‘Colored Pencil Magazine’ as well as the ‘The Source’ and is commissioned by clients from the U.S. France, Australia and the UK.
