Director Ava DuVernay is a busy lady and about to get busier. The Academy Award-nominated director has her sights set on the incredible and fascinating story of freedom fighter Assata Shakur. Responding positively to a fan’s tweet about previous statements Ava DuVernay has made about her desire to tell Shakur’s story, the Selma director promised that “one day” she’d bring the truth of what really happened to the civil rights activist who fled to Cuba after she escaped from prison.
