ghetto-sci-fi pioneer ras g’s new release “stargate” is not just your 4/20 soundtrack
More than just a collection of stoner anthems, Ras G’s “Stargate” is what you would hear bumpin’ over vibranium speakers in Wakanda coffee shops. “Stargate” is a rhythmic interpretation of the cycle of life and a celebration of our vessel for coming into this world – the female. Through heady percussions, ambient space noises and hypnotic vocal cadences, the Leimert Park beat-maker is most known for his Raw Fruit beat tape series, brings you deep into his vibrant futurist world, which he described as smoother like Pineapple Mango Juice, compared to his previous works that were more like Ginger Shots.

“Stargate” is being released under Leaving Records, however, Ras is now collaborating with fellow Afro-futurist artists like Eagle Nebula, Kahil Sadiq and Gold Coast on his own independent label Ghetto Sci-Fi Music.

“Stargate Music is a record that I livicated to the Womb-man … to the Vagina, which I have come to call The STARGATE from which beings emanate life on this planet. I gathered these sound pieces and presented it as a reflection of the life cycle of beings on this planet – from the primordial water formation we flow through the Stargate to which we are given Life….and ones’ great journey reconnecting and returning to the sweet nectar that is The Stargate … and this is the soundtrack to the journey.” — Ras G
