Created by Egyptian designer Amna Elshandaweely, who is poised to make her debut on Project Runway Middle East, the Cairo Punk collection was inspired by Pan-African aesthetics and those of the African diaspora—specifically, the type of style adopted by AFROPUNK festival attendees! “The collection will channel the identity crisis faced by most Cairene youth today,” Elshandaweely says. “[And it was] inspired by Afro Punk festivals, albeit in Cairo street style. It’s kind of sportive-style tribal pieces for people who are always on the move from one place to another, which is the normal everyday hectic routine of Cairenes.” Very cool. Cairo Punk is a streetwear collection of super-wearable jackets and pull-overs perfect for layering when they sun sets at Fest 😉
