cardi b: “i don’t got to tell you i’m black. we came over here the same f*cking way”
In an interview with Zendaya for the latest edition of CR Fashion Book, hip-hop’s newest queen Cardi B got super real about being Black and how, since blowing up, people have tried to remove blackness from part of her identity. Cardi, who is of Afro-Trinidadian and Dominican descent has been the subject of conversations pertaining to light-skinned privilege and “exoticism” in hip-hop, as always been open and proud of her heritage. “I hate when people try to take my roots from me,” Cardi B told CR Fashion Book. “Because we know that there’s African roots inside of us. I really just want people to understand that the color that I have and features that I have are not from two white people f*cking.”
