tracee ellis ross paid ‘significantly less’ than anthony anderson, considering cutting back on black-ish appearances
Time’s Up for women staying silent about pay disparities.
As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, the feminist movement, inspired by its sister movement #MeToo, is breaking Hollywood taboos to push back against major pay gaps between women in men who have relatively the same amount of screen time, the latest example being Tracee Ellis Ross.
Following revelations that fellow actress Michelle Williams made just an $80 per diem vs. a $1.5 million salary for her co-star Mark Wahlberg in reshoots of the film All the Money in the World (after making $625,000 vs. his $5 million for the film), protests by fellow actresses led for Wahlberg to donate his salary from reshoots to the Time’s Up campaign.
It had been basically unheard of for actresses to comment on another actresses salary, but things are a-changing. In the same Time’s Up meeting where Williams’ situation was discussed, it was revealed that Tracee Ellis Ross is paid significantly less than her Black-ish co-star Anthony Anderson.
Sources say Ellis Ross may appear in fewer episodes following negotiations for the fifth season, and try to make up the disparity by guesting on another show. Though a network source told the Hollywood Reporter Anderson and Ellis Ross’ roles aren’t equal “given that he has been attached to Black-ish from the start and is an executive producer,” a new deal will significantly increase her compensation.
What do you think Tracee Ellis Ross should do if the disparity is not made up? Let us know in the comments below!
