New Orleans bounce legend Big Freedia has canceled her upcoming shows after releasing the devastating news that her brother Adam Ross, 35, was shot and killed in their hometown on Wednesday night. Freedia called the death the result of “a senseless act of violence,” and said that the family is “truly heartbroken.”
In a statement, Freedia said she was canceling shows Jan. 26, 27 and 28 “as the magnitude of this situation sinks in,” according to The Times-Picayune.
The full statement reads: “My younger brother, Adam Ross, was fatally shot last night in a senseless act of violence in New Orleans. As the magnitude of this situation sinks in, I am cancelling any shows this weekend (Jan 26-28). Thank you for understanding this very difficult time for me and my family. We are truly heartbroken.”
Rest in Power, Adam Ross, and our prayers are with Freedia’s family.
