Tongoro is a Senegalese fashion brand launched by Ifren Media Group founder and owner Sarah Diouf in 2016. Not content with simply designing the sleekest and most stylish looks of the year, the brand is committed to developing fashion production on the continent, sourcing all of their materials in Africa and working only with local tailors. “Our long-term goal is to contribute to the development of the retail production in Western Africa, with our first atelier in Dakar, Senegal,” the company’s website explains.

Their unique approach has caught the eye of many in the fashion world, including the stylists on HBO’s hit show Insecure.

It quite possibly caught the eye of those with less scrupulous intentions in the industry, as Saint Laurent was accused of plagiarizing a Tongoro design earlier this year.

Jockers or not, with an eye this artistic, a style this distinctive, and a vision so strong, we don’t see the brand going anywhere anytime soon!
