41 years ago today, the world was gifted with Chadwick Boseman. No one probably imagined he would grow up to be one of the most talented, hottest movie stars of this generation, but here we are, barely able to make it to February when his Black Panther hits the big screen, and sure to salivate when it does. In honor of T’Challa’s birthday, we’ve compiled a list of 5 reasons Boseman will take over in 2018.

He’s the lead in one of the most anticipated movies of all time.

It’s taken a long time for us to get a big budget superhero movie starring a majority Black cast, and judging by the response so far, Hollywood has really been missing out. I would say 99% of Black people already know where they are going to be on the night of February 16th, and whose face they’ll be staring at on the screen.

And in another.

Not only will Black Panther hit theaters in 2018, so will Avengers: Infinity War, in which Boseman will reprise his role as T’Challa.

He’s hot.

I mean, just look at all that dapper.

Not only can he act, he’s also an established director.

When Boseman was cast in his first feature in 2013, the Jackie Robinson biopic 42, he was directing an off-Broadway play in the East Village and had considered giving up acting and pursuing directing full-time at the time. Before that, he was the drama instructor in the Schomburg Junior Scholars Program, housed at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem. Who knows, maybe he’ll bless us with a Boseman-directed film in the near future?

He’s “woke.”

I know, I know, that word is overused and cliché, but Boseman isn’t just a pretty face. He also has compelling opinions about racism, colonialism and tokenism in Hollywood. Brains and beauty!
