Massachusetts mom Denise Robinson learned the residential school for young girls where her 7-year-old daughter, Tru, had her hair forcibly shaved. The group home, Little Heroes, is described as an intensive residential living program for children 7-11 with social, emotional, mental health, and behavioral challenges and employees allegedly told Robison that Tru’s hair needed to be shaved for hygienic purposes.

“There was no hygienical reason for them to shave my child’s head,” Robinson said. “There were no head lice, there were no bed bugs, there was no what I refer to as ‘Rasta locks.’”

Ms. Robinson’s suspicions of misguided or foul treatment of her daughter’s biracial hair is rooted in systematic forced assimilation and white supremacy.
