black student gets superpowers after police altercation in new action web series

Malcolm has had a day like so many other Black people, overwhelmed by the violence against Black people on the news that never seems to cease, when it finally hits home and he becomes the target of police brutality after “fitting the description” of another suspect. Beaten and arrested, the college student is then injected with an experimental drug that unintentionally gives him the power to stop time and run at super speed.

Created by Maurice R. Keyes, Freedom follows Malcolm as he comes to terms with his new superhero powers in an anti-Black world.

In addition to the six action-packed episodes hosted on the series’ YouTube channel, the creators also feature a Freedom vs series, where the titular character is pit against superheroes and supervillains like Spider-Man, Static Shock, and Deadpool.
