in kaytranada co-produced funk-soul track, la crooner sunni colón shows appreciation for the “little things”
In life–and certainly in love–it’s easy to get so caught up in extravagance of the show that you miss all the beauty that goes on behind the scenes. That’s the message behind L.A. singer Sunni Colón’s latest track, co-produced by AFROPUNK Brooklyn headliner and super-producer Kaytranada, who airily confirms to his lover “It’s the little things that matter, to me/ When you make me feel important/ When you make me feel like matter, pull me” over funky but minimalist drums and guitar.
“When I first heard the chords on ‘Little Things’ I immediately grabbed my guitar and jammed out over it for about an hour,” Colón told The FADER, who premiered the track. “A week later, l sat in my room with my electric guitar and began writing. The lyrics stem from mindfulness while living in this beautiful yet chaotic world. Around the time I wrote this song I dived pretty deep into Alan Watts and would only listen to him and play guitar.”
