wtf is up with the new-found love for george w. bush, are y’all crazy?

Former president George W. Bush has condemned Trump’s racism. A lot of viral articles have him sounding like the voice of reason, which in all honesty is amazing and wholly inaccurate. Really, it’s the most “pot calling the kettle black” situation we’ve found ourselves in. The media has created this spin to make W seem like the angel amongst a sea of demonic Republicans and all I have to say to that is… Bruh.
We get it. Trump is trash, so in comparison, everything seems less terrible. But let’s not get beside ourselves. George W. Bush is still the same man who left New Orleans underwater and helped create the school to prison pipeline with his No Child Left Behind policies of standardized testing. The Bush administration sent this country into the worst recession in recent memory and the Black community is still feeling its effects. Bush is still pro-life, anti-black, and conservative right. Don’t let his moment of relative clarity start a collective forgetfulness of the policies that left Black, Latinx, the poor, women, and LGBTQ communities in disarray.
And don’t get us started on his wars started under false pretenses, that left hundreds of thousands dead and further destabilized the Middle East in ways that can still be felt to this day.
