new music: indie rock icons the dears drop their first single in 5 years. stream “here’s to the death of all the romance” here #soundcheck

January 6, 2017

It’s been almost 6 years since The Dears dropped Degeneration Street, but from the sound of it, a little time off has done them well. Their latest single, “Here’s To The Death Of All The Romance,” is classic propulsive indie rock at its best. Driven by a frantic beat, singer Murray Lightburn cuts against with the kind of world-weary melody that he seems to just kind of effuse. The release of Times Infinity Volume One can’t come soon enough. “This track was meant as a sort of sequel to 22: The Death of All The Romance,” the band told ReadDork.com, “It has grey hairs. It has children. It owns a house and drives a family car. But it hasn’t lost that loving feeling.”
