premiere: electronic hip hop duo young futura is all mellow vibes and gorgeous melodies in debut ep “patience”
The future is here and Young Futura is the duo ushering it in. Washington DC’s Beau Young Prince & French producer Futura teamed up to create a whole new sound, pushing the bounds of hip hop, R&B and electronic music for the sake of moving the culture forward and bending genres towards beautiful. Beau Young Prince is a talented rapper who opened for the likes of Wale, The Cool Kids, Danny Brown, and Ryan Hemsworth. Futura has multi-platinum track record boasts work with 50 Cent, GZA, Kylie Minogue, OK GO, Trey Songz, Lloyd Banks, and Raekwon, among others. Today they release their first joint EP entitled “Patience.” The standout is the song of the same name, a catchy tune with alternative R&B leanings, reminiscent of the Masegos and Goldlinks of the current crop of artists. The duo said, “With our debut EP we wanted to introduce listeners to a sound we have been cultivating for quite sometime. Blending electronic sounds and syncopated dance rhythms with classic hip-hop world play, creates a fresh feeling, but one reminiscent to the feeling of the 90’s. It’s something classic with new overtones. We wanted people to find themselves in exactly that position, the middle. It’s the simple joy of making something that people can dance to, but also has classic hip-hop elements.” It’s only five tracks, so it’s an easy listen and you might just end up putting it on repeat and letting it set the tone for your Friday.
