premiere: london folk duo a.o.s.o.o.n bridge r&b and indie vibes in new breezy single, “something”
With folk vibes and a keen understanding of Black music like hip hop, R&B and soul, London duo A.O.S.O.O.N is bringing serious talent to a scene that doesn’t get much love these days. Self-described as gangsta folk, the twosome comprised of newly minted singer Ella and producer Manny, first connected over a love of MF Doom and the rest, as they say, is history. Regarding their debut single with this personnel, Manny and Ella said: ‘‘Something’ is a story about nature, its importance and how much it has to teach us. It’s a reminder that we are all something, we are all unique and an important part of this beautiful, living, breathing plant we live on. The production is very organic; we jammed a few times then hit record and ended up here. It’s especially important to us because it’s our first release on our new label Orange; no rage, no anger, no age.’ It’s exciting to hear such fresh and vibrant sounds coming out of the UK and it seems like the two have no plans of stopping the music, so enjoy “Something” below and look out for music from the duo coming soon.
